Training Standards

I understand that Lynx Security Group training courses are not “give me” training courses. As in, you pay for training, and a certificate is provided at the end. To achieve a certificate of training, I must demonstrate competency in the skills being taught. *

I understand that if I do not demonstrate competency in the skills taught or do not participate in the academic portion and practical exercises, I will earn a certificate of attendance instead of a certificate of training. With a certificate of attendance, I may return to future course dates at no cost to me to demonstrate I understand the subject matter. *

I understand that as a successful graduate of Lynx training courses, I can return for refresher training at no cost to me as long as I make prior arrangements with the appropriate manager at Lynx. *

For the P.I. Academy, I understand that if I seek sponsorship, I will only be offered it if I pass all Maryland State Police and Lynx Security Group training standards. *

For P.I. Academy graduates, I understand that I am not authorized to conduct investigations on my own without prior company approval by a Lynx Security Group manager. *

For P.I. Academy graduates, I understand that I cannot work on any private investigation matters until my credential card comes back from the Maryland State Police. *

Criminal and Other Standards for Maryland Private Detectives and Security Guards Pursuant to Maryland Business Occupations & Professions Title 13 and Title 19

I certify that I have not or are:

Have not been convicted of a violent crime (abduction, arson, burglary, escape, housebreaking, kidnapping, manslaughter, mayhem, murder, rape, robbery, sodomy, or an attempt to commit any of the above offenses, or assault with intent to commit any other offense for which the court sentenced imprisonment for more than 1 year). *

Am not a habitual drunkard. *

Have not been convicted of a felony. *

Am not a fugitive from justice, which is defined as a person who has fled from a sheriff or other peace officer within this State, or who has fled from any state, territory, or the District of Columbia, or possession of the United States, to avoid prosecution for a crime of violence or to avoid giving testimony in any criminal proceeding. *

Am not addicted to or a habitual user of narcotics, barbiturates, or amphetamines. *

Have not been confined to a mental institution for treatment of a mental disorder or disorders unless there is a physician's certificate attached to my application, issued within 30 days before the application, certifying that I am no danger to myself or others. *

Have not falsified any information on my private detective or security guard application. *

Understand that I must submit my DD-214’s from military service along with my application. *

Have not been convicted of any criminal act directly related to my employment with a detective agency license or requirement to be licensed by the State Police. *

Understand that I must submit my fingerprints with my application. *

Understand that I must submit a letter of good standing from all police departments, sheriff’s offices, federal law enforcement organizations, military police, international law enforcement, or tribal police I have worked for if I was a sworn officer along with my application. *

Understand the Maryland State Police and Lynx Security Group have separate and independent standards for employment as a licensed private detective or security guard in Maryland. *
